Geezer in a waistcoat and cap, a couple of seats away from me, kept shitting himself and sitting down when the stewards came. Proper let the side down......

Re: Time to embrace the London Stadium!
The atmos in 130 was fine. All the standing v sitting has been sorted out between the fans, loads of singing etc. Sorted.

Then after 25 mins the stewards show up, antagonising people, taking seat numbers etc. The old steward from chav corner was spot on though, actually telling the others to leave us be.

They caused the rows yesterday not the fans, and yet again resulted in people watching the crowd instead of the game.

Ive gone to all but one game there now and i just cant warm to the place, and im not on my own. Everyone i seem to speak to wishes we had stayed put. The phrase "be careful what you wish for" is banded around about bfs, however next year think loads wont bother renewing and the lapdogs will have exactly what g&s want. Loads of customers sat down nicely having a pleasant matchday experience..

Re: Time to embrace the London Stadium!
Didn't seem to be too much steward problems yesterday and the atmosphere was much better... obviously helped that we didn't concede a goal every ten minutes.

Yesterday was the first game that I've (sort of) enjoyed at the new place... perhaps my expectations have just been realigned!

Re: Time to embrace the London Stadium!
We've got a class steward in 152. Old school West Ham just walks up and down having a laugh with the fans. Not been one sign of trouble in that section apart from the Accrington game when he wasn't there and you had some big fella taking down names and trying to get people to sit and it started kicking off.

Just about says everything about how the stewarding should be done to avoid trouble.

It's hard to embrace a stadium when you are being penned in by the police, threatened with arrest and stopped from getting to the underground station.

Was in my dads seat in the BML the other day and the view is the same if not better. Same faces as well

Re: Time to embrace the London Stadium!
A simple view but in terms of the west stand and perhaps behind the goals; why did we not look to bring the lower tiers even closer to the pitch? Yes the gaps between tiers will be longer but can live with that.

Considering that the east stand covers the track and long jump they have done a good job with that. Lower west needs more work.

i find wembley to be quite dull to be honest. that arc is a total waste of time.

I just keep comparing it to the old one, Ball son. Lovely for the post Euro 96ers, but not for me. Loved those twin towers. Had some superb trips there for England games back in the day. And yes, I get the irony with the gaps, but Wembley really was ICONIC. It really isn't now.

200 million of the conversion costs was for breeze blocks.

What don't you like about Wembley, Buster?

it'll be alright if we snuggle up B man.

Re: Time to embrace the London Stadium!
Of course. Look at it this way. One of the best stadiums I've ever been in is the Millennium. £400m.

One of the shittest I've been in is Wembley. Nigh on £800m. The old one was better.

What I mean is. City of Manchester conversion costs were 40m. Yes I know it was planned for conversion but thats a large discrepancy. More could have been done for that dough

The ROOF. The one that still doesn't keep people dry in the back row of the BML.

Can't wait to see what some (one) on here make of the ground when it's fucking freezing in the winter.

Is there breakdown anywhere on what the 274m conversion costs were spent? Roof must have taken a fair wedge I know.

But they have been there continuously improving the placebfor over 10 years. Granted they had a better starting point than us thanks to Seb Coe but that does not mean we can't make this a superb venue. Let's hope eh?

In the meantime I just hope that we can start to vocally back the team and not just concentrate on the things we don't like about the place.

Its failed as a football stadium as all old Olympic athletics stadiums do

Tomorrow they start on knocking down the Boleyn Ground Upton Park E13 9AZ

Born. The Etihad is a prime example of how it can be done. Not my cup of tea personally, but MUCH better as a football ground than our abomination. It's because it was all sorted that it would be used for athletics but then used for football, so the plans were nice and simple.

Ours is a prime example of how it SHOULDN'T be done. It's shocking for a Premier League team to have as a home ground.
